Naturally available stones like marble and granite are used as flooring materials. They are available in flat slab form and can be placed on top of a precast concrete base. Marble slabs have to be polished with a carborundum stone, while granite does not need to be polished. Their hardness, durability and aesthetic appearance have increased its demand as a flooring material.
