What is queen post truss

It can be used for distances of 9-14 meters. It differs from a king post truss in having two vertical members called queen posts. The ends of the queen posts are separated by a horizontal member called a straining beam. Queen post heads are widened to receive the principal rafters and straining beams. The upper ends of the principal rafters and the ends of the straining beams are connected to the wide ends of the queen posts.

A three-way iron or mild steel strap is fixed to further strengthen the joint. The bottom end of the queen post is tenoned into the tie beam and a steel stirrup strap is fixed by jibs and cotters to make the joint stronger. The tenon of the inclined strut is inserted into the splayed shoulder of the queen post. The other joints in this truss are similar to that of the king post truss
