In this type of roof, each pair or pair of joint rafters is made to slope upward from opposite walls and is supported at the upper ends by a mid-ridge piece or ridge board. The lower ends of ordinary rafters are connected to wall plates

embedded in the masonry of the upper part of the walls. The use of this form of roof is not very popular as it has a tendency to spread at the feet and pull out the walls. Therefore, a double roof is adopted for a maximum height of 3.5 m.
