Wooden stairs are light in weight and are generally used for residential buildings. The biggest limitation of a wooden staircase is that it catches fire

easily and in case of fire, the occupants of the upper floors will have no escape route. If good quality wood of adequate thickness is used, it resists fire to a great extent and gives the occupants enough time to escape.
