Slidable doors that slide to one side were widely used for residences in the past. Door shutters can also slide up or down. These doors do not create any hindrance to movement. Vertical sliding doors are pulled by cables or chains and are used for large openings in industrial and freight elevator doors. Right-angled doors are suspended from an overhead track and are of very limited use for garages.
