The process of selecting the respective proportions of cement, sand, coarse aggregate and water to obtain concrete of desired quality is called concrete proportioning. There are various methods to determine the volume ratio of different components, such as arbitrary method, finesse modulus method, minimum voids method and maximum density method.
Recommended concrete mixes for various types of construction are given in the following table. The maximum size of collections is also mentioned in the table. Proportions are by volume.
