Determine your priorities

In the previous section, you divide tasks into two groups: things that are important and things that are not. But it still sounds like you have a mountain of affiliate marketing tasks to accomplish – more than can fit into a 24-hour day.

Now you have to prioritize these tasks, and the clearest and easiest way to accomplish this we’ve found is the Time Quadrant System popularized by Steven Covey, a well-known time management expert. Instead of printing out a bullet point list of tasks and putting it on your computer, print out some blank time quadrant sheets, fill them out, and leave them on your desk to use in the morning. A quick glance through the bulleted list gives you a better picture of your day ahead.

Quadrant 1 – Urgent and Important: Examples of urgent tasks are fires or other emergencies – these must be dealt with immediately. By their very nature they can be difficult to schedule and predict, but they cannot be stopped.
Quadrant 2 — Important But Not Urgent: In terms of planning, this is the most important quadrant because these things are critical to your long-term affiliate marketing success. Since they are not immediate, you can plan for them. Examples of these types of tasks are setting up your email, writing content, and writing posts—tasks that put you on the path to affiliate marketing success.

Quadrant 3 – Urgent but unimportant: These items demand your attention but are not very important. Your task is to reduce or delete them. Examples of these are notifications, bings, bongs, and boops from your computer or smartphone—distractions that are trying to steal your time. Eliminate or minimize them.
Quadrant 4 – Urgent and Not Important: These are total time wasters. They add no value to your life and should be eliminated or minimized. Examples include mind-numbing television and listening to the latest celebrity gossip.
