Tile on walls

Nowadays, the walls of bathrooms, kitchens, work areas etc. are covered with glossy tiles for better cleanliness and aesthetic appearance. Tiles are available in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Before fixing the tiles, all corners should be checked for verticality and all concealed plumbing and electric works should be completed and checked for leak-proofness. The plastered surface should then be given a final bed of cement paste 1:2 with very fine sand. The tiles should be soaked in clean fresh water for 30 minutes before mixing. The cement mix should be applied evenly on the back of the tiles and fixed in position by taping in the correct position. The joint should be kept to a minimum (1.5 mm). The corners should then be struck with a mallet to check for a hollow sound, which indicates poor workmanship. The joints should then be cleaned and finished with white or colored cement. Treatment should be continued for at least 15 days.
