Different affiliate programs have different application processes. For some it’s as simple as filling out an online form. At a minimum, in addition to submitting general information, you need to provide the IRS with a W-9 form so they can pay you, as we described earlier in this chapter. Most affiliate programs prefer to have a way to pay you without cutting a check.
You can arrange payment by direct deposit to a bank account or your PayPal account. I (author Ted) paid for my affiliate programs from my PayPal account. In today’s cybersecurity world, I always feel that the fewer organizations that have access to my bank information, the better. With so many data breaches, you never know.
