Mouding on ground

In this method, the ground is first leveled and fine sand is sprinkled on it. The mold is immersed in water and placed on the ground. The clay is pressed into the mold in such a way that it fills all the corners of the mold. Any excess soil from the top of the mold is removed using a cutting wire or sharp metal, which has to be dipped in water each time it is used. The mold is then lifted up and the brick is dropped on the ground. The mold is dipped in water and kept close and another brick is molded in the same way. If the mold is dipped in water each time, such a production of bricks is called slope mold bricks. If instead of immersing the mold in water, fine sand or ash is sprinkled on its inner surface, then such bricks are called sand molded bricks.

In pallet moulding, bricks are produced with high quality and frogs. The frogs are made using pallet boards and wooden blocks. A frog is a 10-20 mm deep mark made on raw bricks during moulding. Frogs are mainly provided for two purposes:

It acts as a key for the mortar when other bricks are placed on it.
It indicates the manufacturer’s trade name.
